SEE: What are YOUR Talents?

Talent is defined as a natural aptitude or skill.

We ALL have talents.

EVERY.  SINGLE. ONE. OF. US.

However, I bet if you asked several of your friends, they would either:

1.  Tell you something they're physically "good at."

OR

2.  Shy away from telling you anything, or share it in an "everyone can do it" attitude.

WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS?

I believe that people are taught to NOT talk or acknowledge their talents because it seems like "bragging" or "boasting" about your self.

WELL...

I say "SHOUT IT TO THE ROOFTOPS!"

Then share it!

If you believe in a higher power or a form of creation that created you, then why would that power not endow you with a talent to share and make this world a better place?

Why would you be here to not grow in that talent and help others in their talent development as well?

Why would you hide your talents from others, especially if they can inspire and make others happy?

Do you even know what your talents are?

Perhaps you have a talent for music?

Can you play an instrument or sing?  Maybe you can keep a beat, even on the steering wheel of your car while driving (like my hubby does).

Maybe you can hear harmonies where others only hear melodies.

Maybe you can create things with your hands.

Can you paint, craft, draw, design, arrange, or place items so they are pleasing to the eye?

Can you see things in 3-dimension?  This is a talent that I've always had and it's helped me to see finished decorating projects and building projects.

You might be like my sweet friend Penny who has an amazing gift for hospitality.

It's not a frufru fussy type of hospitality - you won't be eating from fine china and drinking $200 bottles of wine.

It's the type of hospitality that makes you feel loved and cared for.  It lets you relax and be yourself.  It's the type that reminds you that others care enough about you to create and serve a meal that nourishes not only your physical self but your emotional and mental self as well.

Maybe you're a dog whisperer (or animal whisperer) and can make connections with living creatures and nature that others just can't seem to make.

I know people who such an innate sense when it comes to creatures and living things other than humans.

They have a way of knowing what animals and plants need, beyond the general knowledge of the rest of us.

Perhaps you're like my daughter.

From an early age, she has been able to cook and create delicious meals without the benefit of culinary teaching.  (The Food Network helped, but she didn't get this from me...)

She can combine unique tastes and is a whiz at experimenting with new foods and tastes.

There's a real science behind food prep and production and she instinctively knows this without formal training.

Maybe you have a talent for problem-solving and strategizing.

Some folks I know can see a problem and really analyze how it was created and how it can be solved... even while the rest of us are still scratching our heads and wondering how to even approach it.

It's not that they are "uber-smart" or even have to be academically gifted - I've seen kids with diagnosed learning exceptionalities solve problems I couldn't even tackle.

It's just that they have a way their brains tackle certain challenges and come up with real, workable solutions that are different than the rest of us.

Perhaps you are a fierce and dedicated Prayer Warrior, able to pray for those you know and don't know.

You can sense the needs of others without them verbalizing it.

You feel a "gentle nudge" or strong pull to pray for someone or a situation, knowing exactly what to pray and ask for in their name.

I've met a few warriors who have this talent and daily send out unspoken prayers for others without their knowledge.

Maybe you are just a great listener.

Listening...TRULY LISTENING, is a talent that I believe the bulk of the human race is so derelict in but don't recognize nor want to fix it.

Some folks though can really listen, especially to what someone is NOT saying.

Perhaps it's the body language, combined with the tone and emphasis of the words that allow certain people the ability to listen to others.

With all this being said...

I have an assignment for you!

Write down ALL THE THINGS YOU ARE GOOD AT DOING!

Yes...

Write them all down.

You don't have to share the list with anyone, only yourself.

Don't be timid.  Be bold and really LOOK and SEE what you can do well.

DON'T make comparisons to others you know who can do the same things as well, or in your opinion better...

JUST DON'T!!!

This is about you and your TALENTS.

Now, write ways you can share these talents with others... maybe at work, in social groups and settings, in unspoken ways, or with family.

Now...

Go out and share them...

Make the world a better place!
